Editorial Standards
This page explains how Throttle Daily is put together: what a publisher has to clear to be included, how we handle attribution, where AI is and isn't involved in what you read, and how to get something fixed.
What qualifies a source
Before a publisher's feed is added to Throttle Daily, we check that it:
- Publishes original motorcycle or scooter content — news, reviews, launches, racing, touring, or brand press releases — not a general auto/lifestyle feed with the occasional bike story.
- Has a live, working RSS/Atom feed (or, for a handful of manufacturer sites with no feed, a stable public page we can read on a schedule).
- Is reachable and returning real content at the time it's added — feeds are spot-checked again periodically, since publishers change URLs or shut down without notice.
- Is in English. We deliberately draw from independent and regional publishers across South and Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America, but only their English-language coverage — we don't run machine-translated excerpts.
Inclusion isn't for sale: no publisher pays to be added, and being added doesn't guarantee permanent inclusion — a source that goes dormant, gets acquired by a spam network, or stops publishing real coverage gets removed.
Attribution and excerpting
Every card and story page names the original publisher and links directly to their article. We only ever show a short excerpt (roughly a couple of sentences) plus a thumbnail image — never the full article — and full article text is never stored or republished. The excerpt exists to tell you what the story is and send you to read it at the source, not to substitute for reading it there.
Categorization and regional tagging
Every story is sorted into a riding category (adventure, sport, off-road, scooter, touring, cruiser, naked, electric, classic, or general) and, where relevant, a region. Both are assigned automatically — a keyword match against the headline and excerpt first, falling back to a source's own regional default for publishers that cover one country or area but rarely name it in their own headlines. This is a best-effort classification, not human editorial judgment on every single story; if you see one filed wrong, tell us.
Use of AI
Two different things happen on this site, and we want the distinction to be clear:
- The aggregated feed (every headline, excerpt, and category tag) is produced mechanically — no AI rewriting, summarizing, or generating any of it. What you read in an excerpt is pulled directly from the publisher's own feed or page, not generated.
- The weekly roundup is different: it's original commentary drafted with the assistance of an AI language model, working from that week's aggregated stories under a fixed editorial brief — tie several stories together into a real point of view, don't just restate headlines, and never invent details not present in the source material. Every draft links back to the original stories it references. We disclose this rather than presenting it as unaided human writing, because we think an aggregator claiming a newsroom it doesn't have is worse than being straightforward about the process.
Independence
Throttle Daily is funded by advertising and affiliate links, disclosed in full on ourprivacy & cookies policy. Advertising is never placed inside an excerpt or inside the roundup's editorial text, and no advertiser, manufacturer, or publisher gets editorial input into what's covered or how it's categorized.
Corrections and requests
If a story is miscategorized, an excerpt misrepresents the source, an image is wrong, or a publisher wants their feed added or removed, emailthrottledaily@purelymail.com with a link to the specific story or source. We fix factual errors as soon as we can verify them; because articles here are excerpts of third-party reporting, a correction to the underlying story is best made with the original publisher, and we'll update our excerpt to match once they do.
